  1. Nice find on that Canon cameragary! Get a chance to test it yet? My recent book purchase was 30 cents more than your camera: Have only quickly browsed a few pages and look forward to spending more time with the images.
  2. CA or certain grocery stores? I know CA has temporarily lifted the ban and 10 cent charge on single use paper/plastic bags, but outlawed customers from using their own tote or reusable bags? I can't find specific info on that.
  3. I don't have a Facebook and was able to view the album?
  4. Amazing. Is the name of the photographer known? I can't seem to find that info, if it's even known. I came across a (sort of) similar story whilst visiting Paso Robles CA for wine tasting. Some 2000+ glass plates recovered from a barn. Saw some of the photographs at a downtown museum and was completely enthralled looking at them. Photographer name is Richard J Arnold. https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/article39439164.html
  5. Agreed, not a street photo. Do we know of any photographers taking images from the midst of these gatherings? These could be significant images. Wearing full hazmat might affect the work though, especially in terms of capturing close up facial expressions and body language. But maybe not, as wearing protective gear is in the conversation; although full hazmat on the extreme end.
  6. Longer focal lengths and zooms now the norm for street photography? ...the social distance focal length - 300mm?
  7. It's more about asymptomatically transmitting (i.e. protecting others) than it is about protecting yourself. Wearing masks whilst doing normal everyday social activities is definitely a new thing, culturally, here in US.
  8. We've already had "crimes of opportunity" around my part of the woods :(
  9. Found some good photog related reads on Internet Archive and National Emergency Library. Free to sign up to checkout books and waitlists lifted. Announcing a National Emergency Library to Provide Digitized Books to Students and the Public | Internet Archive Blogs
  10. Not particularly related to what we are experiencing at the moment, but have any of you also ever noticed a difference in "blue sky" (and the quality of light in general) at (say) a city in the midwest US versus at a city much closer or along the Pacific or west coast? It's probably due to differences in particulate matter concentrations over water and land but one of my thoughts is from the light bouncing off the water and back into the sky versus bouncing off land and back into the sky; maybe why artists were drawn to locales southern France?
  11. Apologies for lack of updates but here are a few things I picked up from the past couple weeks: Battery adapters for Canonet QL17 and Yashica Electro35 Follow up exhibition book (1978) to Group f.64 book I acquired earlier: Also finally found an affordable copy of The Americans: And finally this photobook/essaybook:
  12. Richard Feynman comes to mind here. I always enjoyed reading his books even though the deep math and science behind the subject could leave me in the dust.
  13. KEH often buys at the monthly (no date chosen for March yet) Hayward camera show, but I do not know if you still need to ship the items to them. Might try calling or emailing KEH and get in touch with their representative who will be at the show.
  14. I first heard of John Chiara watching a local PBS TV show called "Spark". I loved the part where he's developing his image in the big drum, rolling it on the floor.
  15. I found it used on eBay. There's another hardcover on there now (betterworldbooks) under $10 shipped.
