I think I found the problem. I'm embarrassed to say the uv filter had become loose and actually started to rattle around under the lens hood. I tightened ir up and the problem has not reappeared. The lens does seem very sharp as well as compact.

Hi. I've been experiencing vignetting with my 24mm Elmar-M lens. I'm using it on an M240. The lens is 6 bit coded and I have lens detection set on automatic so I'm pretty sure I have the lens correction set properly. My other Leica lenses are from the 60s and 70s and don't seem to exhibit this problem- including my 35mm summicron. Anybody else have this experience? Is it a characteristic of this particular lens design? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
