1.
Philips and JIS Cross Point are different, you can easily ruin a JIS cross point screw by using a Philips screwdriver on it. Most cameras have JIS cross point screws, so make sure you buy the correct tools.

 2. I have bought a "Canon converter B" that will allow Canon FD lenses to be used on my Leica iiif. Any comments about what FD lenses should be considered? Looking to get some wide angle ones as the Leica stuff is beyond my budget. Thanks
 3. If money is an object, as it is in my case, I picked up a 50 Summar for less than $100 US, have not yet tried it and seen results. I am not proficient at looking for scratches, haze, fungus or other ailments common to all lenses, so let's see how it turns out using a bargain bit of glass. An even cheaper lens is the Industar 50 2.8, that I got on e**y for $19.00. Took it apart and fixed the aperture screw, old solid grease, and tightened all the tiny screws and it seems fine now, but like the Summar, results are still to come. With hope, Geoff
 4. Just found out that the Jupiter service guy jenstaret in Florida has recently closed up his lens fixing business. Pity. Any one know of another?
 5.
I am in the process of getting a 135 Hektor f4 from 1938, at quite a low price, so will have to see if it is possible to use well with my recently acquired iiif. All the comments here are helpful. Thanks to all.

 6.
Hi, just joined the group.
I had a Tenax with a Tessar lens in the 1950s. I have recently acquired a very similar camera, in fact it is identical except for the name Taxona. it is in remarkable condition seeing it was made in 1954 (Zeiss gave me the date of the Tessar lens) Without a film in the camera the film advance and shutter cocking and release worked OK. The Advance lever was a bit stiff but it did what is was supposed to do. But with the film loaded there was a problem. the Advance lever became harder and harder to use and now the advance lever is stuck almost at the end of its travel and will not move up or down.
Do you, or anyone you know, have a remedy that I can try to free up this problem?
I still have a few colour slides taken in Venice in 1957!
