  1. <p>Even small amounts of sharpening will greatly exaggerate the grain.<br /> I've found it's best to use minimum sharpening for the scan, then selectively sharpen afterwards, sharpening only those areas that need it.</p>
  2. <p>Depending on what backup software and strategy you use you may find that the backup will retain the old folders AND create new ones as well, thus duplicating all your files.<br> This may or may not be a problem to you.</p>

  4. <p>Just use a Curves or Levels adjustment layer with a layer mask.</p>
  5. <p>Just wondering, why did you shoot in raw if you don't know how to process them?<br> Did you shoot just raw, or raw + jpg?<br> If you have the jpg as well, even if it is low resolution, it could be used as a guide to making the raw adjustments.</p>
