<p>The brass gear is under the top plate. Its been a long time, but I think I put something in to keep the rewind tongs that rotate the rewind spool from rotating. Then tried unscrewing the rewind knob. Then the brass gear stripped. I put the acetone in from the top of the rewind knob. </p>

<p>Dont force it. I stripped the brass gear underneath trying to remove the knob. Then I tried a couple drops of acetone and it came off easily.</p>
