1.
Hello!
So I used to have the normal FD 300mm 2.8 white but sold it and now for some reason got curious about trying this rare Fluorite version.
Anyone else currently using one?
I saw a test on another forum and liked how it was more contrasty and a bit longer than the white version but I understand with such old lenses, performance can vary a lot based on condition.
We shall see!

 2.
Well July marks the month where i post my last images here.
Have fun everyone.
Regards

The bear is from Hogle Zoo in Utah.
The Wolf from Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in Yellowstone. :)

 4.
Indeed they are so this "discovery" is VERY nice for me so I dont always have to use that monster hood but then again...I am so picky that the thought of maybe not getting the best contrast for not using it will likely push me to use the big hood anyways. LOL

 5.
Hello guys!
I am trying to determine if there is any difference in IQ between the two since I dont need IS (will be using it on A7Rii).
I am going to be getting V1 as dont want to spend much more for V2.
Thanks!

 6.
Yes, sounds dumb but I JUST realized that besides the big lens hood attachement, the lens actually has a built in hood. I wonder if you are supposed to extend that one and then add the attachement or does it really make any difference.
Anyways, goes to show that even after a long time, one can find out new stuff about your gear lol

 7.
Wow some amazing contributions. That lion looks awesome.
Here is a Lion cub with the FD 300mm F2.8 to keep the topic going :D

Here is the Flickr link for Full Quality.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/lgabrielg/26983165672/in/photostream/

And here is the full image from where I did the above crop.

 8.
Thanks Alex S!
I cannot wait to go back with more time and better weather as I have several ideas on how to use this amazing lens. I shoot mostly native lenses these days, Zeiss, top Tamron ones like the 15-30mm F2.8 but this Canon FD 300mm has no problem keeping up with newer lenses. Its just marvelous :)

 9.
Almost the end of the month so lets post one I took with the FD 300mm F2.8.
I ran out of space to frame it how I wanted and it was bad weather so I took it this way. Planning to go again for more ideas I have with this monster lens and the A7Rii. :)

 10.
So I am trying to help my brother to improve IQ from his kit zoom on the A57 on a VERY tight budget.
Now he has the 50mm 1.8 which he likes a lot so I suggested instead of wasting money on a zoom as he cannot afford any more expensive ones, to look at at a wide prime instead. It seems a 24mm would be nice to complement his 50mm.
So I found this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000Y680HA/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
As far as I know, if its AF minolta, it should work with the Sony A-mount, correct?

 11.
I want to share this one taken with the Canon FD 300mm F2.8.
Working on learning Portrait photography in my WIP basement "studio" :)

 12.
Hello!
So I dont use a tripod that often to be honest, some times when going hiking with my wife I will take it to take at least one pic of us together and for moon shots but I think my current combination needs to be upgraded as either the head the both are not up to par.
In any case, for $200 or less ...what do you think of this Vanguard combo? The heaviest lens it will use will be the FD 300mm 2.8 with a couple of extenders on a Sony A7ii.
I was looking at one that was able to become a monopod too but didnt look that strong.
My current one is a Manfrotto 3001N with a Sunpak 620 Pistol Grip (I am sure this one is the super weak link). So let me know if I need to upgrade both or just the head please.
I wouldnt mind a lighter easier to handle tripod or at least one that is smaller when packed.
Thanks!

 13.
That is correct Dave S, it is a jacket like protector for the whole body. I do have the original case and a hoodie for the lens itself. :)
