1.
Thanks for the responses everyone. So it seems NEF files from the D610 aren't supported in LR 4 even with the upgrade to 4.4? Right now I'm holding off on upgrading to LR 5 because I have no intention at the moment of switching to Windows 7. I went ahead and downloaded Abobe Dng Converter and will play around with it as time allows.
I also have the Nikon Software which came with the camera and will give that a try.

 2.
I've recently purchased a Nikon D610 and had taken some test shots in the raw format. I imported the images into LR version 4.3 but got an error message that the raw files weren't supported in the current version and suggested checking for an upgrade. I downloaded version 4.4 and attempted to install it. It got through a good part of the installation process until it came to this error message:
"Error 1714. The older version of Lightroom 4.4 64 bit can not be removed. Contact your technical support group."
I tried a second time but this time by right clicking on the installer and choosing "Run as Administrator" but to no avail.
My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit.
Thank you for any suggestions.

 3.
Ellis, yes it is the push/pull version.
Jim, after further digging I did find a serial number on my lens.
This is the lens I have
http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/af80200.jpg

 4.
This is the lens that came out just before the D version. The one I have was purchased new probably around the year 91 or 92. I really can't provide anymore specific information. I have the lens in front of me but don't see any serial any other type of ID numbers. When I first had it, it was paired with an F4s. I had purchased from Kirk Photo a collar with a tripod mount that attached the lens to the camera. I've since replaced the F4s with a D7000. Kirk Photo seems to have a lens collar but they emphasize it's for the D version only. Looking at some Q&A's it seems doubtful that it would work on my lens. So my question is, and I know this lens is quite long in the tooth, does a lens collar or any type of support exist for this lens? Note: I checked the Really Right Stuff site and they don't seem to have anything.
Thank you.

 5.
Michael, I did try changing the folder name to "images" but that didn't work either. However, your suggestion gave me an idea which solved the problem. Before I realized my original destination was low on space I was going to import the files into a subfolder. When I changed the destination I was trying to import into a subfolder with the same name. By changing the subfolder name I was able to successfully import into the new destination.

 6.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and it's getting very frustrating. I have always had my images imported from my SD cards to my PC into a second HD into a folder I named "photos." Today while trying to import additional files I got a message stating the my destination drive was low on space. Since I have a third HD in my PC with plenty of space I decided to try that one. I created a new folder in that drive also called "photos" to where the images would be imported. On the right pane in Lightroom under destination I went expanded the new HD and clicked on the "photos" folder. There is a large white arrow to the right of the chosen destination folder. I then attempt again to import the images but I still get the warning message telling me the old destination HD is low on space.
What can I do to get LR to recognize the new destination folder on the new HD.
Thanks for your help.
