  1. I did not get any 'phishing' or 'renewal' emails but did get the warning from photo.net - which I guess is good. There is no doubt in my mind, however, that p.n was hacked in some manner and at least some email addresses were compromised because recently the number of other 'spam' emails I receive have increased at least ten-fold, and only at my email address associated with this site. It would be a 'serendipitous' coincidence if those events were not related. :( I now retire back into the shadows until something else occurs to induce me log in again to find out what's happening - or until something approximating the functionality and usability of 'photo.net V1' is restored.
  2. Actually, I'm familiar with the forum software as it's used on a couple of other sites where I'm active and where it works 'properly'. As to 'not knowing where the headlights are' I'd like to point out that a new car also comes with an owner's manual - something missing here. Ciao
  3. Not only did they 'fix' something that wasn't broken the 'fix' itself doesn't work. 1. Too much wasted space 2. Cannot 'stay logged in' 3. Login gets lost when switching between pages 4. Icons much larger than needed (icons aren't needed at all IMO) 5. Navigation is less than intuitive All the things that were wrong with the first iteration of P.N 2.0 are still there in one form or another. It's obvious to me that site management is catering to folks who who primarily use hand held touch screen devices which does not include me. Given the scope of the change one would think that each and every page would have a "Help, How Do I Do Something" link to help folks rather than having to wait for some yet to be developed FAQ page which may or may not be any real help. In all likelihood when I leave the site this time I'll not bother logging in again. Edit: Page breaks and new paragraphs don't work either. Edit 2: Page breaks and new paragraphs do work after you edit the original post. o_O:confused::( Edit 3: Page breaks broken when leaving the site and returning. Edit 4: Logon preserved when I left the site and came back, but was then lost when I switched pages. So sad. :(
  4. <blockquote> <p>I gave them the lens number, correctly engraved on the seating rim.<br /> I also informed them of purchase time & place and that it came with a <strong>USA warranty </strong>card, still in its place in the original box. Shouldn' that be enough..?</p> </blockquote> <p>No, because any of that (other than the purchase info) could be counterfeit as well. Even pictures may not be sufficient to prove authenticity if it's a good counterfeit.</p>
  5. <blockquote> <p>Not many people in the U.S. know that the southernmost point in Canada is actually south of the north edge of California.</p> </blockquote> <p>I've won more than a few 'bar bets' asking "What is the first country one hits when going south from Detroit?". </p>
  6. <p>The ArtTechnica article barely scratches the surface of the subject and the cameras they reviewed are, for the most part, 'members of the pack' and there are much better offerings depending on ones specific needs/desires.</p> <p>This article provides a much better insight on a macro level as to what, why and where - <a href="https://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-buying-guide/">Overview</a>.</p> <p>As to what camera to consider based on different criteria/needs/desires, etc. read this one - Best by <a href="https://dashcamtalk.com/best-dash-cams-of-2016/">Category</a>.</p> <p>To do a head-to-head comparison of different cameras try - <a href="https://dashcamtalk.com/">Head-to-Head</a>.</p> <p>And for those that prefer to watch videos versus reading articles this site has more than enough reviews to keep you entertained for more than a 3 day weekend. The first video is a 'why get one' and then you can go on to camera specific presentations - <a href="http://www.techmoan.com/guide-to-dashcams/">TechMoan</a>.</p>
  7. <p>See this - <a href="https://dashcamtalk.com/">https://dashcamtalk.com/</a></p> <p>Probably the most complete dash cam site on the 'net and has a very active and helpful forum. Product reviews, pros/cons of different cams, etc.</p> <p>Edit: BTW, I currently have 4 cameras in my vehicle - front, back and both sides. Also front and rear in my wife's car.</p>
  8. <p>I spent many years in I.T. - there are no 'normal working hours'. ;-)</p>
  9. <blockquote> <p>Two points.<br> First, I hated it, too.<br> Second, the reason that I hated...</p> </blockquote> <p>Could not have said it better no matter how hard I might try.</p>
  10. <blockquote> <p>It was probably not the developer who decide to release 2.0 before it was ready.</p> </blockquote> <p>Likely it was the same person who said that a 'properly designed system doesn't need any documentation/user manual/help capability'. :-(</p>
  11. <blockquote> <p>I'ld just like to know if the person who designed PN 2.0 that went bonkers had it work perfect on their system before releasing out to the general public</p> </blockquote> <p>There is no way it could have. I 'tested' it using 4 different browsers on 4 different machines running 4 different OS's (Win 7, Win 10, Linux, Android) and it failed in every instance. </p> <p>My opinion (based on 30+ years of software/systems development and implementation) is that PN2.0 was marginally ready for Alpha testing. The data migration alone was enough to defer it's release without even considering the functionality - or lack thereof.</p>
