1. I also use the Paterson tanks for over 40 years, and never had a problem, but I don't leave the tank with the film and without the lid stand in daylight. That the tank is not really light tight you can easily check: Put a film into it and leave it without lid for an hour in daylight, and then develop. Or put a small flashlight in the tank, and watch at it in the dark. Then you see the light rims, also when you have put the center column. There is no problem if you use them in a reasonable way. I prefer them to the Jobo tanks which are better in this respect.

 3.
I used to buy the papers from Ilford Imaging Switzerland, and had a store of them till now. The company
went bancrupt 2014, but papers with the same name are sold by a new company who just bought the
name. They are however no longer produced at the old factory, and I don't know from where they are
really coming. Does somebody have experience with the new papers (for instance the Gallerie Prestige Gold
line), and how they compare with the ones which were produced in Marly (Switzerland)?

Best, Erwin

 4.
Probably, there is a serious problem with your printer. I had the same on my 3880.
It seems to be a not too rare problem with these printers. From some website, I learned
that there is something called "ink selector" which has to be replaced. It always seems
to affect PK.
I had mine at the official Epson repair place in Switzerland, but they are incompetent
there, and wanted to replace the whole print head for a price above a new printer. The
head however works perfect, but just with MK. So, I am now using only matte paper.
From what I read on a German website, the repair should cost about 200.
