<p>Thanks guys. I missed that the original comparison photo was Gold 200. Having gone back and re-scanned a frame that I originally had scanned at the lab: aside from being a lot brighter and greener (well, technically the lab is probably too magenta - the Nikon's skin tones look a lot more accurate to how he looks in real life), the Nikon doesn't seem to exhibit any more noise/grain/dyeclouds than what the lab sent back... Looks like a bit more dynamic range too. :)</p>

<p>I guess I've just been way more spoiled by 6x7 than I realized...<br /> I'm also going to take the advice to try reversal film. Actually about to head out right now and pick up my first roll of RVP 50 - very excited to see how it turned out! It'll be the first slide film I've shot since the early 2000's Lomography phase. Which makes it my first non x-pro roll of slides. ;) <br /> Can anyone share and/or point to some best practices with using this scanner and Silverfast? Best output PPI, any color or exposure quirks, etc? I literally plugged this thing in and started feeding film.</p>
