I bought the largest size of the old LowePro Pro Trekker backpack, the one with the adjustable torso length suspension and removable daypack, in used-but-like-new condition but it was missing the removable padded load-bearing waist belt. I bought a surplus USMC padded waist belt from a combat pack and it fits, but it's a TIGHT fit and I can't remove it to use the backpack as a carry-on, etc. If anyone has this pack and doesn't use the padded load-bearing belt feature, I sure could use one... Thanks, Bob

The D200 makes a perfect "beater" camera. I bought a low shutter count specimen that was having command dial issues for a hundred bucks, then repaired it at no cost. Now I have a great DSLR that I'm not afraid to take with me anywhere. Lenses are a bargain, too.

I have the old screw-drive autofocus version and it's a wonderful lens, unless you want the fastest AF performance. A great bonus feature of this lens is that it works beautifully with teleconverters, even the third-party brands. I have the Kenko Pro 1.4x and 2x and get very good results with them. I would imagine the Nikkor TCs work really well...

I have a big, old Gossen LunaPro F that runs on a 9V battery. It still works like a champ. Being able to take incident readings is comforting sometimes... Stay sharp, Bob

I know it's a long shot, but I need just the hip/waist belt for a 450 AW. If anyone has one around, or can salvage one off a worn-out or wrecked Pro Trekker 450 AW, I could sure use it. Thanks, Bob

All the boxes on that page were filled in as I intended, with "Robert Scott" being in the "Screen Name" box. The URL that is currently showing as my screen name is in the "Personal URL" box. BUT... when I rechecked everything and clicked to edit or save the changes, I got an error message telling me the screen name was already in use. I just tried changing it to "desmobob" I'll find out if it worked when I view this post! Thanks, Bob

My apologies, as well. I use the "view new posts" function to see what's happening since my last visit. I read the title of the thread but didn't take note of the sub-forum it was in; hence my discussion of lenses. I promise to be more careful in the future! Stay sharp, Bob

That looks like a pretty neat system... except for the fact I use a tripod fairly regularly and have Arca-Swiss plates on my camera bodies and telephoto tripod mount. I'd have to buy all new Cotton Carrier plates. Stay sharp, Bob

What do you appreciate most in a picture?
desmobob replied to ruslan's topic in Casual Photo Conversations
I like to see a combination of great composition, technical proficiency, and story. I guess those things come in different orders for different types of photos but I think good photos need them all. Gosh... just three things; sounds like it should be pretty easy! =:-0 Stay sharp, Bob -
If You Could Keep Just One Classic Camera?
desmobob replied to mjferron's topic in Classic Manual Film Cameras
I guess it depends on how far back a body has to go to be called "classic." I'd easily pick the Nikon F4. If that's too recent, the F3HP would be my choice. I've kept them all and still have an F2S, F3HP, two F4s's and a little FG. Stay sharp, Bob
