  1. Hello, I am moving to tanzania in July. I will be living ind the city of Dar es Salaam but will look forward to going on a few safaris. I am taking my canon 7d; canon 5d mark iv. my lenses are 17- 50 is, the 50 mm 1.8 and my 70-200 II 2.8. I can not afford a lot. I can get a 24-70 II for a decent price. so this is what I was thinking: I was thinking of getting a canon extender to give my 70 200 more range on my 7d while using the 24 - 70 for a walk around and landscapes. I would clearly like to have a 16-35 and 200- 400 but cost is a factor and i think the 24-70 and extender might give me more options. I would appreciate any thoughts . david

  3. Hello all I did a search for a similar topic but i could not find anything close enough I have been debating whether or not i should invest in a heat press, convert my back up epson to dye sublimation and create my own metal prints or should i send everything to a professional print shop I am hoping to create a small inventory to sell at small craft shows and farmers markets. I currently print regular prints on my canon pro100. I have done a lot of research and I am still not sure which would be the most cost effective. does anyone one have any experience creating metal prints at home? I have researched a few print shops and have made a decision which i would go to.... just trying to figure which is best in the long run. thank you in advance David
  4. I did a search and found nothing new so here goes.... I recently took some photos that seem popular and i have a few individuals who would like to have it printed on metal. Does anyone print on metal at home? either with heat press or other forms of transfer? if you do.... did it go well and would you recommend it? or do you send out for prints on metal and if you do where do you go that allows you to sell them at a fair price and profit? thank you for your thoughts David
  5. and i am not a member yet I think you saw someone else
  6. Michael,I appreciate what you said and it will be used with all the other research I have found. Either way I am finding out it is a risk that is needed for hopeful building of the business. I would enjoy discussing the business... I will contact through your website if that is ok David
  7. Hello, I searched prior posts and did not find anything.. I was wondering if anyone has experiences with either wedding wire or the knot. I was quoted the following prices... the knot - 157 a mont for basic and 240 for feature. feature guarantees you a spot on the front page. The wedding wire is very similar in pricing. approximately 3000 a year is a lot of money, but I know at times you must spend to make. About me... I have been shooting weddings for approximately a year as the lead photographer and I have done shoots for bands and sports for a few years. As I attempt to go further with my craft I am disappointed at the slow pace of getting clients. I have an active social media and I am in the process of offering photo shoot events. Basically I dont want to waste my money.... so if anyone has any thoughts on these 2 sites i would love to hear them. I live in Southern NJ if that helps thousand-word-photo David
  8. <p>I recently bought a Kingston 64 gig cf card for a 2 week trip to the Philippines. I had no real issues till just recently. I took some graduation pictures and then tried to upload them to my MacBook Pro and it won't be recognized. The reader works because my other cards show up. the card in question still has the pictures on them.</p> <p>anyone ever have this issue?</p> <p>David</p> <p>not sure if this is the right forum i shoot with a Canon 7d</p> <p> </p>
  9. I was considering more cards... I am not taking my laptop and I do not know how to download straight to a hard drive
  10. I am leaving next week to go to the philipines for 2 weeks. We are going to be staying with family for close to a week and spending Tim at 2 different resorts. Her family lives on iloilo. The gear I am taking. My canon 7d, 70-200 is, 17-55 2.8. My charger 3 batteries 2 - 16 gb cards(might by 1 more) and a tripod for family pics My gear will be in the a carry on with locks securing the zippers. We will be there for a 100th birthday and Holy Week and I hope to get good shots. I have one or 2 questions: Does anyone recommend travel insurance. I checked with my homeowners and they said they cover it I wasn't sure if I should get more. I will be taking pictures of my gear just as a precaution. Safety ideas - I am awareof some of the hazards: ie pickpockets and such... I am hoping being with family will help but I a bald extremely white guy who I was told will stand out everywhere. This is the furthest I have gone and the nicest gear I have traveled with... Any travel suggestions (or suggestions of any kind)would be great Thank you David
  11. <p>before it gets mentioned I did a search of past postings and I research everything before I purchase anything. All this research is actually driving me nuts. <br> First my gear - <br> i have a canon 7d, the 18-135 is, the 50mm 1.8<br> I have been saving for a while and would like to upgrade a few lenses.<br> I just recently rented the 70-200 2.8 is ii and that one is definitely on the list. I will be purchasing that lens hopefully soon.<br> the area in which i am driving myself crazy is what next<br> my options are as follows - price does matter but i am will to save a bit longer if it is worth it<br> canon 24-70 L then save for the 16-35<br> or<br> the canon 17-55 and the 85 prime<br> or<br> go all prime<br> the 85, 50 and a wide angle prime</p> <p>I have owned tamron lenses and am not opposed to them as long as the quality is not too drastic. i was thinking of the new tamron 70-200 but i read in a few places that it is soft at 2.8 and that is one of the reasons i am getting it.</p> <p>I am looking to do more with my photography... currently I am the photography for a camp and have done portraits. I am looking to do more sports (wrestling for example) which is why i lean to the 2.8 or better lenses<br> thank you for the input and i am sorry if it is a tired question but i am driving myself nuts</p> <p>david</p>
  12. In April I am taking a two-week trip to the Philippines to visit my wife's family. I am looking for a good bag for the airplane has the camera in the bottom and space up top. Since space is an issue with packing are there any recommendations for something to carry the camera around on a daily basis that is not a huge backpack and can be placed in luggage. I will not be backpacking through the wilderness. We are staying with family, spending a day in Manila and 2 days at a resort. I like the backpack idea for the plane and the convenience since we will have other bags. I did a search but could not find anything recent. If there is any other suggestions on items to bring while traveling to the Philippines feel free. This is the first big trip I have taken with my gear. I have a canon 7D a 50mm, a 18-135 a 430 ex ( this might change if I can get my new lens past my wife, 70-200) Thanx for your thoughts
