  1. Console of the Wanamaker in Philadelphia
  2. First week of this month I was in Ireland on a tour accompanied by a fiddler that featured all sorts of traditional music events in the hotels we stayed in and in numerous pubs. I was equipped with my EOS M5 mirror-less SLR and an 18-150 zoom, plus an iPhone 13 Pro which I used mainly to record some videos of the musical events. I used both for some stills and it all worked out pretty well. I wrestled with thoughts of taking my Yashica TLR and a bunch of B&W film also. Based on prior experience traveling with a group or family, I gave up that idea as just too much to deal with. (Not to mention concerns about airports switching over to CT scans. Actually passing through, it appeared the European airports are more open to hand checks than they used to be, but at 82 I didn't need to carry the extra 'stuff' anyway.) I will say I think a typical camera does a better job than a typical phone in cases where there is difficult lighting or contrasty foregrounds that confuse auto-focus.
  3. EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS adapted to my EOS M5, augmented with a Hoya ProND10000 filter One of a series shot off a deck on the south side of the house in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. (Wanted to head up into NY state for totality, but weather forecast was pretty dismal.)
  4. Welcome! Since you have two Argus cameras, you might find the Argus Collectors Group interesting. They promote several exhibits and have a wealth of info -- manuals for use and a few for repair -- online. I have a C-3 and have been participating in "Argus Day" every year since 2006. The C-3 is a bit tedious, with separate shutter cocking and a minuscule view finder, but is quite capable of taking decent photos (assuming it's in good operating condition). Never had hands on a 75, but have seen good results achieved by others. The next Argus Day is on August ("Argust") 24th this year. The idea is to use the camera on that date, then there is time to allow processing and scanning and emailing two images in for a gallery exhibit.
  5. Some minimal amount of iCloud storage automagically comes with iOS on an iPad or iPhone. As you have noted, that mysteriously filled up in a year or so for me. I opted for the 50 GB plan for a while, then went with the 200 GB. I figured it was worth it to avoid spending the time to sort out the usage. I do not save photos or videos; I have used iCloud to transfer files between my iPad and my Windows desktop, As Ken notes, you can configure what's saved. I do find it handy to have contacts and calendar shared between the Pad and the Phone.

  7. And based on fiddling here, it appears the timeout is 15 minutes. And the timeout also does not appear to reset when an edit is done. That is, when I just looked, my previous post showed as "Posted 15 minutes ago (edited)" and at the bottom "Edited 13 minutes ago by dave_thomas8"
  8. The most likely problem is that the ability to edit has a time limit. As far as I know, it's really short -- like 10 or 15 minutes. That's enough to correct a typo or clarify a comment after you just posted, but not very forgiving. I suppose there are legitimate reasons to have such a timeout, but it doesn't allow those of us who re-read our own post the next day and find an error to do anything about it. Some other forums I hang out on have such a mechanism but it's set for 24 hours or something greater than a few minutes. (Edit: Just checked .... there is an 'Edit' choice in the three dots pulldown minutes after this post.)
