1. You stated that he didn't sign the contract...if this is correct...there is no contract. You just handed him 1,500 dollars. Did you make a notation on the check...'Payment for photography"? If not that's a tough one.

    Caitlin

Love this...the lighting is excellent. Old world portrait...nice work.
  3. Dave Gardner

Love this shot...very relaxed...beautiful smile...draws you right in.
  4. I'll bet there was a discussion on where to stand....lol. Great shot.
  5. For me it's my off camera lighting...but...getting to know the people and their personalities...and the area way before hand. I will always go to the church/venue weeks before at the time of day that i will be shooting just to come up with some ideas.
  6. We get the payment up-front...no exception. As someone has said a month in advance...to avoid bounced or stop payment checks. It will save you a lot of head aches.
  7. I think it's up to the individual....i will generally give 1,000-2,000 depending on the size of the wedding.
  8. I use strobes...some LED 'IceLight' and i have a light person who's job it is to move with the OCF. I used to use stands...but had one topple over years ago and that was that...i have a really cool monopole that the light person uses...works great.
  9. I only use manual when the action has slowed down....and i can take my time...other then that i use aperture.
  10.
I have to agree with Michael...using a assistant has so many benefits. The shoot moves quicker and your focus is on the subject. It's also better to travel light and fast...IMHO.

Other than that...they do make stands that are harder to knock over...but you would need an assistant to carry them anyway.

  11.
I love shooting on cloudy over cast days...the light is sooo soft. I would watch the focusing technique..on your second photo...also i would have offset the couple from the tree...the groom seems lost. If i want to include a lot of landscape i use a wide angle lens...this way the people aren't so small in the shot. Not sure the lens you used.

On the site...some of the B&W shots are flat and need to pop more. You have a really good eye for candids and expressions. But some of the shots i would not have used...example...the kiss is great but the hug...his shoulder hides her face too much.

Other then some editing...i think it went well.

  12.
Shawn M...I love the smiles on the girls and the booths. I would have liked a bit more contrast in the bridge...still...well done.

Nick D...I like the DOF...i think i would have liked the flower lit more..

John P...the RR bridge i photograph on is no longer in use...and every year i get permission to photograph on it.

  13.
LOL...David S. This was on a RR bridge...and the senior was terrified of heights. I was only able to grab one or two shots. Thank you for the advice though...it's always appreciated.

William W....you hit the nail right on the head. It is something that...we as photographers...have to take into account. We are responsible for their well being.
