1. "Even easier is simply using a USB cable connection from the camera, or removing the memory card and fitting it to a card-reader." Thats what I was hoping to avoid. I find it a bit of a fiddle (maybe my sausage fingers) opening the USB cover and plugging in a USB cable. (also the USB cover seems very flimsy and liable to break after a while). I guess I'll do it via the memory card from now on.
 2. I'm not really trying to connect directly, but via the home network, and the manual seems to indicate that's no problem. The in-camera menu shows an option to 'transfer photos to PC' which is what I'm trying to do.
 3. OK I admit I'm not a beginner to photography, but I am new to the world of compact cameras. Having recently bought said LUMIX, I am totally failing in my efforts to transfer pictures from the camera to my desktop PC by way of my home network. The 'instructions' in the manual are so convoluted that they seem useless to me. I basically cannot see how to tell the LUMIX the PCusername/password/folder name as it seems to assume I want to connect to the home wifi, rather than the PC. Any advice welcomed, or the location of a decent tutorial on the subject. Thanks
 4.
thanks for the info - I'll go for 16 GB Lexar pro cards.. (about a tenner each)

 5.
Just about to buy a Nikon S9700 for my wife, but cannot anywhere find out what size the images are on file.

Can anyone advise?
For example a maximum resolution jpeg, so I can figure out what size SDHC card(s) to get.

Thanks

 6.
'others, when edited' means I opened them for editing in NX2 - doesn't actually make a difference whether I made edits or not.
You comment on lenses suggests that the moire reduction needs to know the camera and lens details in order to do the process.
If that is the case then that answers my question as by the look of it the option is not available for nef files created from sources other than Nikon cameras (e.g. from scanned images).

 7.
I read references on the forum to use of Capture NX2 to descreen (remove moire) using the camera and lens correction tools - 'colour moire reduction'.
This is fine on some of my nef files, but others, when edited, do not have that tool listed.
Anyone care to advise why the tool appears with some nefs and not others ?

 8.
I found that I got the best solution by buying kitchen cabinets rather than office cabinets or similar. I used standard kitchen worktops too.
This seems to give maximum storage space and flexibility..
(sorry no picture)
