1.
How reliable has your phottix system been for you?
I'm kind of all over the place with my flash setup right now....a canon 580exII, a yongnuo ttl flash, a yongnuo manual flash, and the yongnuo 622 triggers. I'm not against selling all of them to move into one condensed and consistent setup.
I guess my only reservation with the phottix gear is it's nearly the same price as the canon equipment as far as I can tell. Guess I shouldn't be so picky about it...but my thought is if I'm looking for gear to substitute for Canon gear, it's kind of a draw if it costs almost the same as Canon.

Thanks for your input...I appreciate the response!

 2.
New here...so hopefully this hasn't been covered, but I didn't find much with a search.
Looking for a suggestion for a built-in radio trigger speedlight system. I shoot Canon. I currently use YN-622's triggers...which do a good job, but looking to simplify my setup.
My intended setup is to have one flash on camera in ettl, and one flash off camera in manual....but i'd like the option for ettl should the need arise Ideally I'd want to be able to change settings from the camera...whether the off camera flash power is in manual or ettl.
I know there's becoming lots of options available...Canon 600EX, Yongnuo 600EX, Phottix Mitros+, etc. Just wanted to see if I missed any options, and experiences with any of those systems.

 3.
Raj,

I think your photos are very nice. I agree that the portfolios do demonstrate that you have limited experience, which is ok...I'm not aware of any photographer that starts out shooting 35 weddings as soon as they open their door.

I was in the same boat, limited photos to display in my portfolio. A suggestion made to me (which I agreed with and did, but others may disagree with) was to actually shrink your portfolio. If you've only done 1 or two weddings...don't try to collect 30 photos from each. Pick the very best 5...hopefully from different aspects of the day. You may have to change your display style...rather than a grid with clickable thumbnails, use a timed slideshow, or another method that doesn't point out the AMOUNT of photos in your portfolio. Even just a static collage could work.

Just my opinion...I've been on that road before, probably still on it actually. I'm not an elite photographer, so my advice doesn't mean you'll be ultra successful and clients will come flocking to your website throwing money at you. But it's something I tried, and it seemed to work better than what I was doing before...so I thought I'd throw it in there.

 4.
My opinion, the scenery in 1245 isn't better than some of the other locations you took photos from. The road in the backgroud breaks up the look, and there is zero shade, so depending on the time of day...you might have some harsh sun to deal with.

1267 and 1225 are more appealing locations in my opinion. 1276 looks nice too with the church in the background. They all might need some flash, but seem alot more flexible as far as light is concerned, and the backgrounds seem to work better to me. I don't know if those will provide room for small groups...but they don't seem to restricting from the look of the photos.

What's the obession with the rocks? I mean, if they are really insistent on it...then do what they ask for. But I don't see anything about them that makes them an ideal location.

 5.
Thanks for the response Mary!
Did you talk to someone about needing a permit, or did you just go way and not bring the subject up? I'm just curious, I've tried calling several consulate offices and finally got someone at the Boston office to say that as long as I don't set off a flag that I'm trying to set up a photography business in Jamaica, that I'd be fine. He didn't sound 100% positive, but it's the only actual person that's responded to my question.
The resort is the only one so far to affirm that there will be no issue with me taking the photos. Their requirement is any outside vendor has to stay at least one night (which I am).
If I may ask...what did you take gear wise? I have a pelican case and an Ape Case backpack which both would be more than enough room to take what I'm planning to take, and I think either meets the carry on requirements. But I've considered getting a messenger style photo bag to be a little more discreet.
Thanks again for the response!

 6.
No to bump an old thread...but how did it turn out?

Did you have any problems at customs?

Was there an issue about a work permit?
