  1. Ten to 25 years is plenty long enough for me and I always have to scan the negatives if I want to print the positives.
  2. Thanks guys. I'll stop worrying about it. I am using kodak portra 400 &160 film and kodak pro image 100. The portra is, of course, a pro grade film, not so sure of the pro image 100 tho, despite the 'pro' in the name.
  3. How can I increase the longevity of color film negatives? I intend to develop (C-41) color negatives in the near future. (I have done this in the past and have some experience.) Can I increase the longevity of the negatives by doing an ordinary additional fixing after I have completed the other steps in the C-41 process? If not, is there any way to increase the longevity of the negatives?
  4. I recently ordered a bottle of this developer from a co. in NY. The bottle arrived but it has brown splotches on the outside although the liquid is clear but very slightly yellow, like very dilute urine. There is a date on the left side which is 06.05.2019 which I assume is the expiration date. I complained to the company and they refunded the charge but told me not to send it back. This is an experiment for me I also bought some Adox Silvermax 100 film which I do intend to use. Here are the questions: Do you think this developer is still usable? Is there another developer for Silvermax 100 film which is just as good? (They brag that the only way to get max. benefit from the film is by using this special developer.) I went to the Freestyle web page and looked at their picture of the Adox bottle it too had a 6/5/2019 date on it!
  5. if you have developed the recently revived P3200 film in diafine, what was/is your opinion of this combo?
  6. I think I need to clean out the dust inside my Nikon SuperCoolscan 5000 ED film scanner. Has anyone done this and how is it done?
  7. Hi Bill; It sounds like you don't miss the darkroom much at all. You say that the v600/v800 "..are excellent for my level". What do you mean by that last phrase "...for my level."? Do you know how the scans of bw 35 mm on the v800 would compare to scans on the Nikon 5000 ? (I've been looking into the alternative machines and the Epson v800 may be a reasonable alternative.
  8. Do you have a hybrid workflow, that is, do you shoot film, especially b+w, and then scan it -- no wet darkroom printing with an enlarger at all? If so, do you miss the old darkroom work? I am thinking of going the hybrid way--I think it is because the editing software I use (paint.net and adobe elements) has spoiled me for the traditional darkroom, only. (Standing on my feet for long periods isn't much fun anymore either.) It will mean getting rid of a lot of nice equipment tho--am in a quandry. Another problem is the scanning.. My scanner is getting old (Nikon 5000ed) -- if it craps out, don't know what I'll replace it with.
  9. This item is no longer for sale on this site. It will be listed/auctioned on e-bay by and by, perhaps cheaper.
  10. Used twice. It works. Accepts all print sizes up to 10 X 12 in. Holds 12 of those. I will ship only to addresses in U.S. $130 (U.S. dollars). You will need a special nozzel for your ordinary faucet to attach the hose. The special nozzel can be found at almost any plumbing/hardware store for a few dollars.
  11. Karim; I do have an m7 and use it all the time. Apparently, the Q has a feature (software ? ) that changes, in camera, the viewpoint of the image to that of a 50mm focal length lens. I would think some pixels are lost or ignored in the process and I would assume the exact same thing could be accomplished in editing software with a judicial crop. Probably another useless feature?
  12. I have 2 oldish leica film cameras, no digital. Am tempted by the Leica Q but also the Leica MA (film). What would you choose? They cost about the same. I like the lens of the Q and the macro feature. I have no use for the audio, video, or wi-fi and there's probably other twitchy/fiddly features of the Q I wouldn't like. There's nothing to dislike about the MA if one likes film and has the lenses. Please let's not start a digital-film argument again -- it's been done to death. I would like to hear from users of the Q.
  13. Perhaps a reason new labs are not opening is because many film users, like me, have learned to develop their own, including color film.
  14. <p>What is the longevity of Clayton F-76 bw film developer after it's opened?</p>
