My 17-55DX 2.8 almost never comes off my D2X. Sometimes the 70-200 goes on when shooting tighter from a distance... but that's about it!
What I don't understand, is why your husband is "buying" your D70s?
Formatting doesn't actually remove the data, so you should be fine. You will need some data recovery software to use.
The flash works fine, and all flash/camera connections work normally. Happens on the camera shoe, as well as on my sc-17 and sc-29 cables.
Low light concerts? you need some faster glass and perhaps a D2Hs. A d70 is not the tool for you.
