  1. I'd like to charge my Z9 using a power bank but I'm not clear about which ones are compatible in terms of brand or output. I have a BatPower 210Wh | 56000mAh Power Bank. Any idea if I could use this to charge the Z9?
  2. That's crazy, I never noticed that "L" before! Thanks for the tip. Sadly, despite a firmware upgrade, the aperture value still isn't appearing. On a different forum, one guy said he saw this on his 45 PCE and it set him back $600 from Nikon for repairs! Since it seems to meter fine, I may just stick with it for now. I hate the prospect of throwing that much money at a fairly older lens. Fingers crossed Nikon comes out w/ a Z version!
  3. Actually, on this particular lens, you can't select the aperture on the camera body. There is limited communications between the lens and body I believe.
  4. Hi all, I have a Nikon d850 and a Nikon 24 PCE lens. A new issue has arisen with this combo. The aperture value is not displaying anywhere. An "F0" shows regardless of what aperture you choose. My 19 PCE lens works just fine in this arena. Any theories? Could it be some issue with the contacts? Thanks
  5. Well, actually, my question was of a technical nature. Is it physically even possible for an adaptor to be made to enable use of Canon RF lenses on Z-mount cameras. Some above seem to think so.
  6. Well, for architecture, not a lot. The ability to set your focus point anywhere is quite nice though not essential. The option to use other brands via adapters is potentially cool too. My other niche is education. From an equipment standpoint, it’s about as demanding as street photography. I love what I’m hearing about the 1.2 primes from the Z system. The ability to shoot silently or very quietly is great. The ability to see your final exposure in the EVF is helpful. And most importantly, my D800’s buffer is ridiculous. I literally can’t shoot in 14 bit and knock off more than like 3 images. So actually I’m replacing that camera and not the D850.
  7. Well, Canon has led the way with tilt shift lenses for years. The birth of mirrorless is a logical line in the sand to consider the possibility of switching to Canon. I'd rather not so I'm weighing options. Also, I'm full-time with photography; this isn't only a hobby for me.
  8. I've got that lens and it's decent. However, the ergonomics aren't great and it suffers from field curvature a bit. It's also not the sharpest when approaching maximum shift. The 19 PCE is terrific however. Throwing my D850 in crop mode (1.2x) brings it to a 22mm, so this is a work-around. Not ideal, however.
  9. Tilt shift lenses are bread and butter tools for my work as an architecture photographer. I am considering purchasing a Nikon Z72 (I now shoot with a D850). Rumor has it that Canon is about to release a 24mm tilt shift lens. I suspect I will be waiting a very long time for Nikon to do something similar. Does anyone know if it it technically feasible to create an adaptor to enable use of RF lenses on the Z mount? I'm wondering if we can likely expect such an adaptor to hit the market. Thanks.
  10. ....and here was Altson's response when I asked about the adapter's compatibility with the other Canon Tilt Shift lenses (not just the 17 which is listed as being compatible on their website: "Tested the tilt shift lenses from other customer as follows: support AF: Canon 24 / 3.5 II Tilt shift lenses, 90 and 45 mm TSE lenses, support MF: Canon 50 / 2.8 Tilt shift Macro, Canon 17 / 4 Tilt shift, Canon 50 / 2.8 Tilt shift, Macro, Canon 135 / 4 Tiltshift Macro. Any problems, feel free to contact us." Sounds promising!
  11. This line gives me some confidence that this adapter isn't just a piece of metal; that there are electronic communications going on between lens and body: "Can adjust aperture directly from the camera side to control the actual aperture of the lens"
  12. Ah, that looks like the ticket based on their website. OTOH, they don't list any of the Canon tilt-shift lenses other than the 17 on their compatibility list. ?? I'm most interested in the 24 since I already have the Nikon 19 PC-E which is great. Thanks!
  13. Hi all, I'm wondering if there is an adapter on the market today which enables use of the Canon tilt-shift lenses on the Z series cameras. I've heard rumors that the answer is yes but haven't seen anything available yet. If nothing is on the market yet, I'm curious about whether such an adapter is technically possible given the design of the Canon TS lenses and the huge flange of the Z series cameras. Thank you.
  14. Well, after 10 hours of shooting, it looks like this issue has gone away. Resetting the camera appears to have done the trick. It's nice to have focus point control again! Thanks everyone.
  15. Right, agreed. I just checked those custom controls and have confirmed that AF-ON is set to AF-ON only. The sub-selector is set to change single-point only. 3d tracking is not set to face detection. Good ideas.
