1.
I also have a D7000, and I have the 105 2.8 D micro. It is a little long on some landscape shots, but it has excellent IQ in my opinion. But for landscape shots I actually prefer my Sigma 50MM 1.4. But we all have our preferences of course.. I use the 105 more for closeup flower shots.

  2.
Kent, really love your night train shots!

  3.
Andy Powers, I do a lot of shots of flowers, and my favorite lens is my old 105mm 2.8 D. micro. really sharp with normally very crisp colors, but the lens that is taking over my favorite spot for walk-around shots is my Sigma 50mm 1.4 non Art.

  4.
My wife has the Sigma 17mm 70mm on her D3200. She gets very good results with it, and I would have no problems considering using it on either my D90 or my D7000, IMHO. (if she let me use it!)
Andy

    B&H shipping

Like others I have them send the package to my office. Since they ship from NY, and I live in
NJ I always get it the next day, WELL PACKED!
Andy

  6.
I have the D5100 & use it with the Tamron 70-300, mostly satisfied, plus it does have macro on it. I shoot flowers with it and get some great results. Also use it for some bird shots, and stopped down some, the results are also good. Good value for the money.
Andy

  7.
Thanks Craig, I've been shooting pictures since the mid 60's, and have been working on DSLRs for a few years now, and trying to p/u on the tech side and know I have plenty to learn. Like "batch conversion of raw to jpg." Like with the computor I learn what I need that I can use.
Thanks, Andy

  8.
R.J. Your commen sense makes good sense. Thank You! Appreciate everyones help on this.

Andy

  9.
Dan, thanks for the quick response, I normally just shoot JPG since I at this time don't do any Post Processing, I plan on getting into that when I get a PC instead of my wifes Laptop.
Thanks

    IMAGE SIZE

Just recently i picked up a refurbished d7000 from B&H, I have d90 & a d5100, will deside which one to sell once I know I like and I am comfortable with the d7000. Since I first got the d5100, I have wondered if there is an IQ difference between using large - medium - small. Should there be any? I'm not really a pixel counter, but prefer smaller files to large ones. Hope this is not a dumb question.
Thanks, Andy

  11.
I agree with Wouter on manual focus on the D5100. I have some D lenses that I just couldn't deal with on my D5100. Got a D90 for the Motor in Camera, and the front dial I use regularly.
Would imagine the the D5300 viewfinder to be similer to the D5100 for manual focusing IMHO.
Andy

  12.
Thanks Shun, the thread was very helpful! I think the SB-700 would absolutely do the job. I'm also going to look into the Nissin Di866 MKII.
Thanks again!
Andy

  13.
Thanks for the super fast response from you guys! It gives me something I can work with.
Thanks,
Andy

  14.
I have a Nikon D90, D5100, and a D40X. Which Nikon Flash would work best with the 3 cameras I have. Not absolutely for the D40X if that would make a big difference. I'm not doing much indoors right now, but would like to be able to do indoor shots if the need arises.
Would appreciate the advise.
Thanks, Andy

  15.
Thanks for the response, I read the Manual, but practical use is very often very helpful! Mike would you say that balance would be note worthy for my 70mm-210 or my 70mm-300 lenses?
Thanks,
Andy
