1.
I'm itching to buy a second body, and the 1D Mark II seems to be a good fit for what I need, and good value as well. I do know that my Sigma DC lenses (30mm f/1.4 + 10-20mm f/3.5) will work on full frame with a teleconverter. But I was curious, since the 1DII has a 1.3x crop factor, would they maybe not need the teleconverter to be usable? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

 2.
I've owned the 20D, 30D, and also the 50D for a short time. In the end, I stuck with the 40D. It's hard to explain why I prefer the 40D over the 50D. The photos from the 50D just didn't "pop" the way I was used to with the 40D. Also, the extra "C" mode on the 40D comes in handy in my case. The microfocus adjustment is an advantage of the 50D, that's definitely one thing I miss about it. But honestly, and this is only my opinion, I'd take a 30D or 40D over a 50D any day. My 30D served me extremely well as well, I shot my sister's wedding with a 17-85mm on the front, and I couldn't believe the results.

 3.
Welcome from another GTA resident! I'm sure you'll pick up plenty of useful information here.

 4.
Michael, I hope everything is settled down in Buffalo, you guys really got hammered by Mother Nature! And thank you for the comments on my photo, I'm a huge fan of constructive criticism.

 5.
Golem, I did clean the contacts, first with an eraser, and then with rubbing alcohol. No change. Well, I dropped it off at the repair shop yesterday. I've heard good things about them, so let's hope they can work some magic.

 6.
Thank you again for all the help, but my problem seems to have become more complex. I seem to get the Error 01 code even in Av mode if I use One Shot or AI Focus modes. There's no error when I use AI Servo. Maybe just a cracked ribbon cable to the mount contacts?

 7.
Mr. von Weinberg, if Brian (my local repair guy), can fix it, it's definitely worth it. I only paid $200 for it this year on Adorama, so I don't have a huge amount of money tied into it in the first place. The only thing holding me back is finances, just bought a truck for my machine shop so funds are low for the time being.

 8. Thank you everyone for your responses. I talked to the local camera repair shop, and he said it could be a bad connection, a bad diaphragm, or something with the firmware. Either way, he said I'm looking at $200-$300 to repair it. Not too worried at the moment, as I usually shoot wide open with this particular lens, but I will get it looked at in the near future. Thanks again!

 11.
It can definitely be. My CAS wasn't really for bodies at first though. I went through a "eBay 'Canon film' search" phase to build up my lens collection. As a result, I ended up with a Canon A2, a Rebel G, an EOS 650, and a 30D. I gave the 650 and the G to family to play with, traded in the 30D for a phone (jumped in a pond with my phone in my pocket), and I actually used the A2 for a while. That was mostly because I loved the way it handled and felt, and most of all its build quality. I wish Canon still built them that way, with the self-retracting pop-up flash and the low light beep. Traded it for a tripod. I wish I didn't.

 12.
Wow, it's awesome that there's people on here from T.O.! To be honest, I'm about 40 minutes north of Toronto, but I figured it's close enough.

 13.
Hello again. I have an EF 28-80 2.8-4L lens that I absolutely adore. However, this morning, I found that the lens's aperture won't stop down at all. I can put it in Av mode and try to stop it down to f/22, and it will take the picture, but the aperture won't close. If I try to shoot anything in Auto, I get an Error 01 most of the time. Also, DOF preview doesn't do anything either. Shooting on a 40D.
I know that if autofocus goes on these lenses, then I'm SOL. But does anyone know what the potential problem could be, and if there's any chance of repair? Thanks in advance.

 14.
I know I'm coming in late to this topic, but maybe you would like to consider a second hand Metz SCA flash, specifically the 40-MZ series. I find my 40-MZ2 to be an extremely powerful and accurate flash. You won't have TTL, but the automatic metering is excellent and all the lens data transfers to the flash automatically (focal length, aperture setting). Also, if you decide to change systems, you can take the flash with you by changing the SCA module. They're usually on eBay for around $100, and they're great to learn on.

 15.
Hello everyone, I've been popping on this site for many years and I felt that it was finally time to join this great community. My name's Anand, and I've been shooting part-time for many years. I've mostly been a Canon user, minus the one or two months where I tried Sony. I've bought and sold countless lenses and bodies over the years, and I'm finally starting to consolidate my setup, and focus on quality over quantity. I'm currently working with the following equipment:
- Canon 40D body with BG-E2N grip - I don't know why, but I can't shake my 40D. I've tried the 50D and the 7D, but the 40D seems to work best for me. I almost feel like we have a deeper connection lol.
- Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC EX HSM - My worst eBay experience ever. This lens floated all over the US for over a month before it finally made it to my door. Worth the wait in my opinion, especially for the price.
- Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 DC EX HSM - Another eBay find, I read mixed opinions on this particular lens, but for my use (real estate photos), it works wonderfully.
- Canon 28-80mm f/2.8-4L USM - My all time favourite lens. Picked this up from Adorama for $200, they said it had error issues. Hooked it up to my camera, got an Error 01, cleaned the lens contacts with an eraser, and haven't had a problem since.
-Metz 40-MZ2 flash - The only flash that I've stuck with for a long period of time.
My work mostly comprises of real estate, small parties and functions, and community events. I'd love to make a full-time living out of my love for photography, but I have a lot of learning to do, and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from everyone here. See you on the boards!
