  1. Hello, soren. Tachirana Hope came in many sizes, including 4x5, 8x10, Full and Half Plates (4 3/4 x 6 1/2). I only found a Half Plate model cost 330 USD, This camera is intended to shoot on glass hal-plates, which means its rather of no use nowadays. Half plate as well as quarter plate are outdated standard and none of contemporary film makers produces film in such a size (but you can still resort to Ilford ULF program and order some custom cut film for your camera). There were interchangeable backs for 5x7 and 4x5 film, but its rather impossible to find them. So i consider a 330 USD is a bit expensive for a paperweight. Overally Tachihara Hope is one of the best field camera ever produced, but i strongly recommend you to seek for 4x5 model.
  2. Its contingent on the subject of shooting and whether you use digital backs. You have to buy a S version if your intention is to to shoot digitally, since its bit lighter than movements verison (movements cant renderd properly with digital backs). Most of Gx680 lenses can be easily bargained under 200 USD (except probably the 50mm monster). Fuji lenses are cheap because they cant be used on any other system, but needle-sharp and impeccable in terms of image rendering. I'm quite sure 100mm f/4 outperforms most of Zeiss Hasselblad lenses. So yes, you can buy the whole lot under 1500 USD. I've just seen a full set of Fuji lenses for under 800 dollars on a local auction in Moscow.
  3. Hello, I use my GX680IIIS with Kodak Pro Back both mounted on tripod and handheld. In the latter a neck strap is higly advisable. You required to have a quite tough neck ofc. GX680 is quite bulky and cumbersome for handheld, but nevertheless very stable.
  4. Some great news for ProBack owners. Despite Midwest ceased servicing Kodak products, you can still have your back refubrished. There are some people who love these digital masterpieces and posess a large stock of spate parts. I've just had my DCS ProBack Plus fully refubrished by these incredible guys. If someone interested, contact me. They're located in Russia. Its not an ad since it is seemingly the last place on the planet where such a job can be done.
