1. Hi there I've currently got a 5DIII with 50 f1.8, 70-200L f2.8 IS II, and 24-70L f2.8 lens. I use the system for both video and camera just as an amateur. I use Magic Lantern for video on the 5D3 I am thinking of getting a second camera for B-roll stuff and having a multi cam setup for video. Ideally want something that is not too big and images are in keeping with 5D3 I have a looked at various options including a used Panasonic GH3, used Sony A600, used Cannon DSLR maybe 70d (for autofocus) or a cheaper 600d. Another option is a point and shoot eg. Canon G7X mark II or G9X I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks

 3. Hi there, I have recently purchased a 5D3 (upgrading from a trusty old Digital Rebel XT crop sensor) together with a Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II lens I am due to go on holiday with the family to Dubai and am looking for a good general setup to do some photography whilst on holiday, mainly children and the various sites. I would also like to do some video work although not sure what equipment I need for this The 70-200 is a bit heavy and also seems to attract a fair bit of attention. My only other lens is the Canon 50mm f1.8 lens I have looked at the 24-105 f4 vs the 24-70 f2.8 (obviously a good chunk more expensive) What would you guys recommend??
 4.
In fact looking at Amazon UK, the D750 can be purchased for £1558 vs £1799 for the Canon 5DMk3
, £241 differece

Ps. the Amazon camera could be an imported model, are there any issues with this?

 5.
Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I'm based in the UK, the other option is the price difference between the D750 and Canon 5D Mk 3 is £100, £1699 vs £1799 respectively.

Does this alter things? Is the D750 still the one to go for?

 6.
I would like to upgrade from my old Digital Rebel XT DSLR which I've had for 10 years. Other than a standard kit lens, I have been using a 50mm 1.8 prime lens, so I guess I'm not hugely invested in the Canon system

I would like to upgrade to a full frame camera and purchase some better zoom lenses, I'm thinking perhaps 70-200 f2.8 and 24-105, both possibly in Tamron/Sigma form rather than Canon

However, I'm stuck on the body. Looking at the 6D, seems quite old now and it seems Nikon seem have more modern versions and choice in this price bracket

Ideally I would like to upgrade within the next week or so as holidays coming up, I appreciate the 6D is due upgrade next year but don't think I can wait that long

I would be grateful on advice whether prudent to switch to Nikon for the better choice of full frame cameras particularly at the 6D sort of price point or any Canon suggestion

Many thanks

 7.
ps. I'm based in the UK

 8.
Thank you once again for the very helpful advice. I guess what I'm saying is that I tend not to change my equipment that often, hence I see the future as being mainly based with FF cameras and as you say the prices have dropped considerably, hence this is why I am a little anxious to invest in EF-S lenses as I would rather get normal EF lenses and then I know these are likely to stand the test of time.

I agree about upgrading the body now but with my limited funds my plan is to defer the FF body purchase for a year or so but invest in the glass now.

In terms of what I am looking for in the new lens(es) is/are:

something to complement my 50mm prime lens
something that is similar quality in a zoom lens
Something that is good as a walk around lens on holiday
Good for family based pics - children photos, school events, weddings etc

I would be gratfeul for any revised suggestions/advice

Many thanks

 9.
Thank you so much for the prompt and informative responses.

Ideally, my logic is to avoid EF-S lenses and stick to 'regular' lenses as I don't mind investing in good glass now and keeping it and hopefully consider a better full frame body in the future, as prices of FF bodies seem to be falling

Am I correct in following this logic

What regular lens recommendations would you advise?

 10.
Hello there

I'm getting back into photography after a period of time away, I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera with a 50mm prime lens, f1.8

The 50mm lens is great for portrait type shots, however, I want to purchase an additional zoom lens to try and make it easier to capture shots whilst walking around on holiday and also capture some shots of the children especially during sporting events, school plays etc

Are there any general recommendations for suitable lenses?

I have looked at the Tamron 70-200 F.28 - not sure whether I need to spend the extra on VC or not - I appreciate the crop factor on my body will increase focal length by 60%

Not sure what would be good wide angle lens to get?

Any advice would be gratefully received

Many thanks

Maj
