  1. as title states... im going mad here. no sure what im doing wrong but my shutter dial can only flick thru AE & AEL. how do i move it to manual settings? is there a release button? the little black button behind is for exposure comp dial. going mad.. or is mine stuck?
  2. UPDATE: i bought it. took it vacation to christian and just got rolls developed. i'm in love. thanks for all the replies! (6MF, 75mm, Lomo800)
  3. Thankyou, I really appreciate your time w/ such a detailed thought provoking response. Yeh its in the irresistible ballpark range but still alot of money, so want to make sure doing the right thing because in all honesty.. I'm not sure how fragile these cameras really are, hence title. (eg: the Ricoh GR1/v/s.. if i was offered that for $500 I'm still not sure I would buy it because i *know* the LCD will die, and the shutter will break - happened to 2 of mine... and everybody else'. But this M6MF purchase is well over $500 so wanna be sure I know what im in for) Yup, I had read so much about PCW in my research and have just taken your advice to inquire costs about proactively overhauling the system to avoid anything. Lets see what they say. Again I maybe too paranoid...
  4. Hi All HELP! A camera I've always lusted over was the Mamiya 6. I've currently been offered a 6MF w/ all 3 lenses. The deal is pretty sweet, but that being said is still ALOT of money for me. I'm buying from interstate and from what I know the camera in question is in 100% working condition with no issues w/ winding mech or bellows. All lenses are fine also. Pictures I've seen of it match description. That being said, its a 25+ year old camera and from my research understand the bellows & winding mechs of these models maybe susceptible to eventually going. Can those things even be fixed? So my question -- am I being overly paranoid or take the punt to buy (via Paypal) obviously?
  5. Hi All. Bringing this post back to life as just acquired the same finder in a kit I've just received. I'm using it on a SQ body tho -- so does this finder's metering still work for that body?? (as I know the SQ has no AE so tad confused) I've been using the WLF but after reading this post just put my prism finder on and indeed see the red '-' & '+' and green 'o'!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXZJIc4BP3o So.. with it installed can I move the shutter on finder & take the 'green dot' as gospel i'm exposed correctly? - so this shutter dial will override my SQ body shutter speed also? if so i'm stoked.. I was thinking i need to carry a light meter with me everywhere. also the Lock switch... is it locked when its pressed in or out? Assuming it just locks the button from being pressed and giving a reading and also assuming it's locked when 'out' bc reading is only displayed when locked is 'in' thanks in advance!
  6. Cheers! Yes this was absolutely doing my head in for the first 24hrs in my possession... I was assuming I was sold a lemon :\ So glad its all good (fingers crossed still, first roll being shot now). So happy with it so far though and the price couldn't be beat as I got the SQ, 80/2.8, 150/3.5, Prism Finder, WLF, 2x 120 Backs, 2x Polaroid Backs & bellows for $AUD550 shipped ($US380). On the subject of the Polaroid backs... *IF" i find the film, are they easy to use??
  7. ignore above! figured it out... the switch on the 80mm is broken and *appears* like its on the T setting, when its indeed on the A. An unbroken switch covers up the letter (mode) not being used... my 80mm appeared to be selecting T, but if switch was unbroken it would cover the T, exposing A. should've thought about it properly before posting here... apologies. ohh, and figured T mode was for long exposures! guess i close shutter by moving switch back to A on the lens too.
  8. Hi All Just received a Bronica SQ w/ Zenzanon-S 80/2.8 The 80/2.8 has an A & T switch on the bottom of the lens. What is this for? * When set to A... at *ANY* shutter speed - the camera opens the shutter (in the lens) and leaves it open?? Doesn't close. * When set to T... speeds seem to work accordingly. So is "T" the default setting?? (I also received a Zenzanon-S 150/3.5 which ONLY has an "A" setting on lens... and speeds work accordingly on that hence my confusion) Thanks in advance
