GrayhamAllottsphotographyBIOGRAPHY
I seem to have been taking photographs for most of my adult life. I bought my first Slr back in the late 70’s… a Konica TC with kit lens. In no time at all I seemed to acquire an assortment of lenses plus the FS1 body, to which a Mamiya 645 and related lenses joined my arsenal in the mid 80’s. This equipment set me up to pursue a “part-time” career in motorsport photojournalism, weddings and the odd fashion shoot……..had my own darkroom in which I had a lot of fun. I was reasonably successful in all these genres and had many photos and articles published by the media both in South Africa and abroad, during a 10-15 years timeframe. I made quite a bit of money too, back in the day before the “image banks”.
To live in South Africa meant, one visited the game reserves often. There is no other experience like it and although I moved to Perth, Western Australia in early 2000 the “Call of Africa” struck in Sept. 2008 and I returned with my Aussie partner to re-live the game reserves once more. We were not disappointed and the images here on PN lay credence to our amazing trip. Just prior to our trip, I took delivery of my new Sony A100 and 2 kit lenses… so the flight over was with instruction manual on knee………
Australia is not the greatest country for wildlife but it does have amazing birdlife and a wonderful coastline with beautiful forests and spectacular mountain ranges…….. so my genres have changed but not my passion. When time permits, we are out with our Sony’s shooting what we like and posting them here on PN for you to see. From my film days, I still compose the image “through the lens” and so any post processing is kept to a minimum…… for many images I just re-size and post.
So, feel free to post a comment, should you wish, whether I’ve asked for one or not…… then I’ll know you visited.............
Sept. 2012......... an on-going health issue has slowed down my trips out and about and so my posting of new images will suffer for a while. However I have enough posted for you to still commentsmiles. I will continue to comment and critique... so be warned.
March. 2017..... am considering returning here but giving the new site a good check over first. I will post a few and comment on a few and see what happens.
Regards
