Before the festval many thousands of idols of Ganesh are produced. They can tower 10m heigh, weigh several tons and cost over RS 60'000. This is the temporary Ganesh factory in Bombay which belongs to Mister Khatus.

Pen, a small town apx. 100km away from Bombay, is famous for its Ganesh idols. Women are rarely involved in the production of the idols.
