BIOGRAPHY
Well, About myself. I've had an on again/off again love affair with photography for many, many years. An uncle of mine, (Uncle Carl) was a wedding/portarit photgrapher for about 40 years. (he retired when he was 75). As a young boy, i was always was intrigued by the enlarger and timers in his darkroom growing up, and i think the smell of the chemicals was engrained on my brain forever. I got my first film slr for chsitmas when i was 12 years old. It was a Minolta XG-M. It came complete with a 50mm f1.8 lens. I saved up enough money to buy my first 80-210 Vivitar series 1 zoom lens, and a motor drive shortly there after with my paper route money. All thru middle school and high school, i was the camera "geek". I took that thing everywhere. During my High School years, i shot for the school newspaper, and i provided the local weekly newspapers with sports shots of our schools sports events. To this day, i still have the papers where my work is printed. I learend how develop my images (black & white) in high school, but never set foot in another one after i graduated. Fast forward a number of years to the early ninties when i traded in my old Minolta stuff which i had outgrown, when i purchased my first "real" camera, A Nikon F3 HP with an MD-4 Motordrive, and a whole bunch of different glass, Nothing wider than 50mm (lol). My love of shooting sports thru these years never left me. It was that very camera, that shut me out of photography for a number of years. I had gone fly fishing with a long time buddy of mine after meeting the girl of my dreams (and my future wife i might add), with the F3 around my neck when suddenly, i slipped on a rock and went all the way into the river. Camera and all! Needless to say, it was beyond repair and all was lost. I guess my head was still in the clouds. I didn't touch another camera again for some 10 years, until i purchased my first Digital camera, a Nikon D1. From there, i was hooked forever. These days, I still enjoy shooting sports the most. But i'm working on the landscape, macro and portrait side as well. I still contribute to local newspapers from time to time, and just enjoy lugging all my gear around, and usually step up when the local youth sports teams need a photographer. BTW....the girl of my dreams, is still the girl of my dreams. Thanks for reading. Time to go out and shoot :-)))
