Annalene Rautenbach started her interest in photography at the young age of twelve when se asked her parents for an instant camera. Her father instead handed her a Pentax Spotmatic SLR. A completely manual camera, it required many fingers to focus, take a light meter reading, and set the f-stop. Feeling quite confident in her abilities she decided in high school Art class to specialize in black and white photography. At university she was the Daily Newspaper’s press photographer for a year, documenting the students’ activities. After the two years in London, Annalene spent one year in South Africa doing website design. She then left for the adventure of a lifetime to work on a cruise liner that travels the world. She ended up visiting a total of 96 countries, and 6 continents. Her love for travel photography was born. In 2002 she joined an photographic club. The exposure to world class nature and landscape photographers has helped her improve her technique and develop her own style. She decided to concentrate more on people and portrait photography. With her extensive knowledge in Photoshop and the control the digital camera gives a photographer, she aims to be the kind of photographer that renders photos art. Working freelance as a desktop publisher and graphic designer, her digital camera photography become an integral part of her work. This lead to numerous photo assignments for various companies. She started working as a wedding photographer’s assistant in 2005 and moved up as assistant photographer. In 2008 she descided to become a full time photographer. Her photographic style is romantic/photojournalistic. The story of the wedding is told through memorable photos.
