BIOGRAPHY
I am not a professional photographer but use Leicas to make photographs to aid in the making of paintings which I do sell. I chose Leica because I, naturally, wanted the truest capture of scenes and subjects. After some trial and error I found that my first Leica lens - a Summar - after cleaning of a little haze, was exactly what I was looking for. In the 60s I studied Graphics, for two years at Weston-Super-Mare School of Art in Somerset UK, and three years at the West of England College of Art, Bristol. There I won a licentiate-ship of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers - allowing the title LSIA. But this rigorous standard-setting society seems to have now disappeared without trace. It was here that a photography teacher instilled the desire for an old uncoated leica lens that has coated itself, with age - and which was fulfilled some 35 years later. I paint landscape and commissioned portraits, in oils.
