BIOGRAPHY
モWhen words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.ヤ -Ansel Adams
Well let me get started by saying that I haven't been around that much lately. I must tell you that I have been busy. Firstly I've relocated to Banff. It is wonderful and exciting to live, work, play and most importantly photograph in a place so beautiful it has been named a UNESCO world heritage site. Secondly I've been busy with a few different shows and exhibitions. This fall I entered the photograph 'Home' into the Capture the Beauty of the South Contry contest and I am pleased to say I took home first prize. Winning this show not only meant I took home the $1000 first prize but there will also be 100 limited edition prints made which will be auctioned off to charity. Secondly I had two prints (Over the Hill and The Three Amigos) accepted into the Western Photo Gallery at the Calgary stampede. I don't know if I'll sell anything there but that is obviously going to be a lot of exposure.
I'm just another average photographer trying hard to get better. With landscape photography I believe that the photographer and mother nature share a Mozart/Salieri type relationship. Mother nature creates the beauty, and if the photographer is lucky he/she can recognize it and share it with the world.
How I rate other photos? Well simply put I only rate that which I like. And the photos I like usually get a 6/6, on the rare occasion I will run into something that really strikes me and I'll rate it higher. Why do I for the most part only leave 6/6 ratings? Because while I don't like everything I see I don't believe that I am at a sufficient enough level of expertise that I can teach another photographer how to improve. There are far more experienced photographers here that can do that. If I can't leave a constructive critique, I will not leave a bad rating.
As for photo.net, there are so many interesting photographers out there I can't possibly hope to see all of your work. If however you rate my work I can guarentee I will look at yours. I cannot guarentee that I will like your work, therefore I cannot guarentee I will rate your work. But I will give it a look. Please do not be afraid to leave a negative remark or a negative rating. A constructive critique with a 3/3 rating will be as appreciated by me as a 7/7 rating. I am here to learn, not to get my ego stroked.
