I owe my early art education to my mother and father. As the daughter of a high-ranking military man, we moved frequently from place to place around the US and Europe. My mother, a tireless art lover, would trundle my sisters and I to all the museums and other art scenes in the places we lived. Galleries, churches, castles?Mother and I and my sisters would hit them all.
Naturally I went into the veterinary profession. But I always kept those early impressions in mind. I started photographing in 1999, mostly horses and other animals. Now I shoot everything within shooting distance. Street stuff mostly because that?s where I live, downtown, in a major metropolitan city.
My interests range from the traditional landscape to portraits, to street abstracts where I find the parts of things more interesting than the whole. I use various formats, film and digital, including 35 mm, medium format, and, recently a 4x5 view camera, with which I continue to learn to see and produce.
