You have an eye sir! You have an eye. It is a pleasure to look at your photos. They are nothing short of wonderful!

I like your Hong Kong Portfolio very much. Great work with a small camera!

Audrey Lee Reid , September 10, 2005; 09:09 A.M.

Surprised you say you are not a photographer! Your work comes very much through the creative eye of a photographer. Glad of the tour.

Hugo

Wonderful portfolio, you should be working for the HK Tourism Department. Your images of Hong Kong are so vibrant, colorful, thoughtful, and most importantly REAL. The HK tourism commercials that I see on my TV screen, here in San Francisco, are not real. Keep posting, would love to say Hi next time I am in Hong Kong.

Alex Lee , September 16, 2005; 01:42 P.M.

By the way...

You have photographic talent beyond many professional photographers. As David said, you do have the eye for capturing thoughtful and artistic images.

Cheers, Alex

You've Got Skills!

More instructional and inspirational than any photo class. Not bad for someone who's "not a photographer". Maybe not in your opinion but most pros wish they were this good. I reeeeeealy want to go to Hong Kong now!

Give us more information...

Hi there! Am I blind to find exif information of the pictures or are they not provided? Because I own a F10 myself and would like to do better shots. It would be cool, if you could give me some tips...

Truly amazing

Hugo, thanks for sharing. You really have a talent. And thanks for showing us that equipment is really only secondary (if that). Look forward to seeing more wonderful shots from you. I will go out this weekend and try to shoot some with my own and see how they turn out!

Aesthetics & Handling...Top!

Hugo,

Both the aesthetics of the photos and the technical handling of the camera amaze me... Continue this fine works of art!

As I am also the owner of an F11, and low-light photography is my favourite, I'd like to know if you're using a tripod all the time? The photos are amazingly sharp, even with low shutterspeeds...

Regards, Bart

I shall add my praise to your long list. You have an uncanny eye for the street scene, and great ability to deal with low light situations. Your use of color is marvelous. On occasion you take the mundane and turn it into the sublime. Some really great photos in your portfolio.

Khidhir zakaria , May 15, 2006; 02:56 P.M.

Another praise.

You sure have the eyes. Your street photography is just examplary. If you ever get to publish a book of your street photography, do tell us. I am sure many professors would like to use it to teach their students. Someone else have said this - please include your EXIF so that some of us aspiring shooter can learn. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of Pros should learn something from you

Yours are some of the less photos that I've been able to find in the internet that really SAY something when you are looking at them (not all of them, but quite a few) I think that a lot of pros should have you as an example of what is to have an eye for a photo (and without worrying so much about the equipment). Well done.

Chris

PD: I apologice for my poor english, I'm from Spain.

I like to watch your photos. Most of them looks great. I want to learn why are you using only fuji compact cameras?

I am taking a look at you street photos. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing images from so far and so different place and culture. Congrats for your work.

Damon Bates , March 15, 2007; 04:43 A.M.

I really like your photos. Your photo album greatly contributed to my decision to buy a F31fd. :) Thanks.

Ed Van Thienen , March 29, 2007; 01:00 A.M.

Not surprised...............

At all that you get so many comments. Your work is truly outstanding and you should really submit these images for publication, you have a unique eye and you use it well. keep up the good work. Ed Van Thienen

Amazing pictures!!

You certainly have an eye for detail and scenery.... I've been lots of times to Hong kong ( residing in Beijing at the moment) and your pictures make it look like the city it was once, the one portrayed probably in Wong Kar Wai's movie In the Mood For Love....

Thank you for those great pictures!!!

( came here from the link from a post of yours in Fujifilm's forum in DPReview, owner of s8000fd myself) :)

Best wishes, Sue

Thanks

Hi,Hugo

Thanks for your kindly critique and rating on my photo "who plays Ben's saxophone out there?". I looked through your bio and portfolio. I like many of your photos especially the street snapshot ones. they are very alive and creative. You have sensitive eyes on those people. I'll come back often. Best regards!

Tim Zeipekis , December 09, 2007; 10:00 A.M.

Thank You!

I wanted to thank you for commenting on my image, I enjoyed browsing your portfolio and after reading your bio, I wholeheartedly agree, I take my camera with me and react spontaneously to the things I see and feel, capture at that moment. I've tried to go back to locations after seeing something previously thinking of a planned shot, and I never react to it like I did when I first encountered it. You will never again see what you are seeing right now exactly the way you see it.

Hi Hugo,

quite a nice view of Hong Kong you give us. It's a nice reminder to see your pictures.. fascinating city. There's some amazing photos here and I'll be happy to return. Hope you'll show us some more of those rooftop images; they are fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

stephen gillette , February 05, 2008; 01:06 A.M.

Hello from California

Hugo, hello I have admired your pictures for some time. Your image Sheung Wan by night (a view from Caine Road) is excellent; perhaps the best city image I have seen. But mid autumn festival 07 (Lyttelton Road, HK) is incredible and surreal. Bravo! Best regards. Tomorrow we vote here, in primary elections to hopefully change the direction of our government. Regardless, light and images will persist, and the artist will submit to his muses...

opinion

Dear Friend, i always follow your work, a great work, so i decided to ask you an opinion: you consider a shot as beautiful independently by photoshop?s operations? There is a limit to define a shot as a photograph? Many of us look for the best moment, the best light, the best composition to take a real photo; we are wasting our time? Please let me know. I have added an example of retouching operated by an expert, Pam.R, in a perfect Rarindra Prakarsa style. The magic light of Rarindra (Rarindra is only an example of photoshophotographers; one of many..)! Thank you!
