The 33 social work and nursing students are participating in a global touch project with elders. They are giving the 15-Minute StressOut Program to elders in nursing homes, diabetic clinics, in-home care program and senior centers throughout southern New Mexico. I am very proud of their contributions to the lonliness and isolation often experienced by elders. By giving safe, skillful and nourishing touch, the participants are able to experience the empathy and compassion while meeting the basic human need for touch and physical interaction.
