Three lakes in one morning, but I think this was the best. Not much in the way of

processing. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated Thank You.

Alf,

Although this image has few elements it successfully held my interest as I found myself examining each portion for detail.  Also, the elements are arranged in such a manner that my focus moved back and forth within the frame.  Very nice!

Hi Alf  -

To me this has an oriental quality  - Zen like in its elemental forms and composition.  Beautiful warm colors as well.

I'd be interested in how you determined the crop.

Best, David

Let's see now, you have mountains, fog, water, interesting trees and a potential alligator; all arranged in a composition with superb depth and clarity.  Love it... Mike

Wow, as MLM states, this image has great composition and elements of detail for the eye to linger over.

Hi Alf, This very beautiful image does have a far east artistic feel to me, whether its from simplicity, color or perhaps the grasses and their gentle reflections in the water. I like it and it's a very fine artistic offering from you. Bravo.

Best Always,

Holger

Hi Alf,

I like the image very much. Composition is well balanced and you have managed to capture the subtle colors and the morning atmosphere just right.

This is definitely one time that the 2:3 ratio is absolutely necessary.  All the elements fit nicely while giving the viewer a real sense of place. Wonderfully composed & exposed.  Your reward for getting up early.  (I know, you were just up for a bathroom break)  :-)  Best, Len.

It is a beautiful picture with a very good composition. I only think that the distant trees could have been slightly less contrastful, due to the fog.

Alf,   And, how sweet it is!  You use the fog effectively to create the mood,  but retain the sharpness and vibrance of the trees and the brush.  I can feel the chill in the air.  Great image, Alf.  Larry

Many Thanks!

I always find that fog or mist adds something, despite it hiding other things :  )

Glad you found the image of interest, I just used what was available in term of composition. Although it has to be said I took about 20 shots all slightly different fom each other, and this is the one I liked best.

Many Thanks

I never thought of it as "oriental" although now you have suggested it, I see what you mean.  The crop was determined simply by the sky.  The original has about 1" of sky and mountain ridge running along the top of the photo, and although the light was ok, I just thought it detracted from the main elements somewhat.

Sincere Thanks

Alf

MIKE

A welsh alligator! Now there's a photo that would make me famous : - )

Glad you like the photo Mike it's one of my favourites too!

It's one of the elements I like best about misty scenes, the way the light affects the colours!

Thank you so much. Although I didn't at first see any comparison with oriental art, it is very gratifying to read that others see a connection.  Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful feedback Holger

The bathroom breaks become ever more frequent : - )  But getting up early has to have some compensations!  By contrast I got up this morning at dawn and ventured down to local canal, and the sky was just grey....can't win em all !

Thank you for your invaluable input Len, always very much appreciated!

Best Regards

Thank you so much.  The fog was constantly moving, rising from the water and drifting across the lake, and consequently the visibility changed all the time also.  I know exactly what you mean about the tree's but they appear here as they were.
