This variety of Columbine is very different in appearance. I was

drawn to it immediately last Spring. It has almost double blossoms

that remind one more of a variety of Clematis than Columbine. It

grows 12-18" tall and the spread is about the same. This is my first

Spring after finally planting it last summer. It is about 12" tall and

each blossom is almost the size of a quarter. It has been very windy

for the last week and I'd tried for 2 days to manage a capture of the

stamens. I had planted it out in my back garden where it is very

happy but I wish I'd planted it in the front garden where I'd see it

more often. It's growth habitat is perfect and I've heard that many use

it for a border plant. One caution however, the blossoms and seeds

are poisonous to animals. (I think that is true of most Columbines).

(any visits and comments are most welcome, many thanks, Gail)

Gail,

Lovely soft pastels frame the excellent center detail.  Exposure spot on, DOF nicely done.  Thanks for this one.

So very glad to hear you liked the composition. I must have taken about 200 images of just this plant, windy conditions; handholding, and I was near exhausted before I got this one!!! I concentrate so hard to stay still. Probably harder than I need to. My sincere thanks for that very encouraging comment,

Sincere regards, Gail

Hi Tina,

so good to hear from you. I have a feeling you may get brushed by with the rain coming from Florida. I hope you don't get hit too badly. We are supposed to get rain, but not too serious. I will drop by to visit shortly, anxious to see what you've been up to!!

Enjoy your weekend!, ;-) Gail

A 'Macro Masterclass' from me????? I'm afraid you would get awfully bored!! For me it takes a lot of patience, and 'holding my breath"!!! I have to concentrate on being so still when handholding. My arms actually ache afterwards, but it improves as the season goes along. Thank you for that very nice compliment though Vlad!!

Thank you David. It is often very difficult to get much else in focus when I am Spot Metering just at the Stamen, the results are not always the best!! I am so glad you enjoyed this one!

Knowing your love of flowers, I thought you might enjoy this image. I can just imagine how beautiful it would look if you applied Fractilus to it!!!
