I've told myself many times to "concentrate on the main subject for

today's outing and shoot nothing else!" But, it just doesn't work! Simply

can't resist pointing my lens in their direction.

Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rate and, allowing

me the opportunity to share!

This is just as it came out of the camera cropped for composition.

Thanks again,

Jim j.

A great shot of a pelican landing.  I am to far south to see these guys anymore, and I miss them.  Thanks for sharing.

I know a guy down in Texas that has many stunning shots of these Pelicans. In fact, through him and his photographs I learned that these beautiful and graceful birds were the American White Pelicans and that they too have a migration like many other North American Birds.

I've now been fortunate enough to shoot them both in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Thanks Bill,

Jim j.

Good catch Jim! Looks like you got them in the afternoon there, the ones hang out in Socal where I shoot came from Idaho, btw. TFS!

Many thanks for your visits and encouraging comments!

Tm J,   I would have thought that So California would have many different Pelicans, and I suppose some species much more popular for photographs than these guys!

Thanks again all,

Jim j.

Looking through your recent posts and came across this excellent shot.  A lot of folks have never seen this beautiful bird.  I saw them occasionally in Minnesota during the summer but never near my current home in central Florida until this year.  There seem to be about 100 in a flock that is wintering in the lakes and ponds around hear.  I was able to get a few decent shots myself.

Nice work and thanks for sharing...
