Distractions were air brushed out (pole & wires). To maintain the colors of the sky, because of the contrast between the sun and the ground, a duplicate layer was made, gamma changed on the shadow area and the two flattened back together together. The image was then resampled for the web, lightly USM'd and posted. I can extend the dynamic range of an image three to four stops this way. I call it the Ansel Adams way, expose for the highlights and develop (post-process) for the shadows:-) Or dodging and burning in an "old fashion" darkroom:-)
